(original) world & history:
Pre-A Realm Reborn and ARR
He spent his early childhood on the Azim Steppe as they do. He is of Kha clan, so they would travel around and help outsiders. He trained with his younger sister, Monx, and otherwise got into shenanigans. His goal was to become the leader of the Steppe someday. In the traveling of the Kha tribe they eventually met a Shinobi of Doma and Ara left with him to learn the way of the ninja. While outside of the Steppe he watched as the Garlean Empire brought the Domans to their knees by rule. Angered by this, he switched disciplines from the Ninja to those of the Monk, which he felt would be more useful. Alongside learning the way of the monk he also learned the way of the warrior in order to cope with his anger regarding the domination of the Domans.

He eventually returned home to the Steppe with his new skills and worked towards bettering himself, teaching Monx the ways of the monk. During this time he fell in love with an auri lass from his tribe, and they started to date. She left him for Magnai Orinir: she claimed that Ara will never lead the Steppe and she would rather marry the one who did. He left soon after, packing his things and leaving in the dead of night. He secured passage to Eorzea. He finished lived a whiel drinking and whoring. He learned how to be a dragoon of a dare. He also had a fateful event where he hit on a woman in a bar and she grew defensive, thinking he would take advantage of her, and attacked him. He lost the battle and was pretty grievously injured. This inspired him to get sober.

Heavensward
Getting sober is hard when you refuse to work on your problems, so he went to a pretty dark place. Deciding to utilize this dark energy of SUFFERING, he went to Ishgard to learn the ways of the dark knight. He trained alongside O'rhok Nunh, whom he'd later find out is a Warrior of Light. He trains as a DRK, grows to be fast friends with O'rhok Nunh, and meets a young ala mhigan woman (Atha) in the snow of Coerthas who is inappropriately dressed and in ill-fitting armor. He refuses to leave her alone despite her flighty tendencies and complete lack of emotional maturity - he feels like she needs someone to look out for her because it's clear she can barely look out for herself.

Ara takes to DRK, finding it suits him and his personal brand of dysfunction very well. He eventually talks O'rhok out of it because it corrupts his friend from the inside out. While lovingly bullying Rhok away from being a DRK, Ara finds out that Rhok travels with Monx and they are both WOL. He's not ready to face Monx so he stays to the fringes of this group, taking plenty of jobs with Atha in order to avoid the wol all together.

Near the end of HW, Atha and Ara were on a job to clear out some enemy mechs in the Dravanian Hinterlands. They were headed out when Atha's mount sensed something and the two of them turned off their path to investigate. They founds two moonkeeper miqo'te kits whose mother had been killed hunting. The two chose to adopt the kits and take care of them. They went to Limsa to talk about what to do about it. They agreed to keep the kids and act as their parents. This is the first time they were vulnerable with each other and officially entered a rocky relationship. At the end of this and into the beginning of SB he learns the way of paladin, to help temper the negative effects of DRK.

Stormblood
Atha and Ara took time off from adventuring to pay attention to the kids. They got an apartment together in the Mist. Things were okay, but there was constant discussion about what to do, how to do it, expectations of each other, etc. There's lots of disagreements, but they tried to shelter the kids from it. As things got better, Ara got message from Rhok that the WOL were headed to the Azim Steppe and it might be time to go home. Ara thought it might not be a bad idea to take the kids to the Steppe and it would be good for Atha to be around a big family. They purchased passage to Othard, then went to the Steppe. It's really nice to see his family again. His mother and father are glad to see him, see the man he's become, meet the girlfriend, meet the kids.

After all of the greetings, Ara finds that Naadam is coming and is determined to participate. He chooses to confront Magnai Orinir, the current Khagan of the Steppe, and issue a challenge. As he burst into Magnai's chambers he cannot contain his anger as he sees he's original love within the room, and he attacks Magnai. The attack is stopped by his sister Monx, who encases his lower body in ice. Monx dresses him down for his actions, but the two have an emotional reunion after. Ara and Monx sort through the emotions they've held for each other all of these years, admitting they always thought the other mad at them. Together the Kha siblings fight in the Naadam and their bond is strengthened. When the WOL leave the Steppe, Atha and Ara do not go with them, but stay with the tribe a while longer.

Upon Doman liberation Ara buys a house in Shirogane and they move in permanently. Things were going along swimmingly for a time until the final rounds of Omega was revealed. Atha and Monx got into an argument regarding Ara and whether he should help Monx with the Omega threat after her last team essentially died to the hands of Kefka. Atha was staunchly against Ara going in and threatening his life when he had to help raise the kits, but Monx knew of nobody else more suited for the job. Monx ultimately insulted Atha and Atha threw her axe at Monx as her back was turned. Normally this was fine: Monx would raise a wall of ice and stop the axe from touching her, but this time Monx was too late. The axe tore into Monx and embedded itself too deeply to be healed without magic. In a panic, Atha called Ara over to help, and he in turn called for any of the WOL to come help. Nobody made it in time to heal her, so Monx died. Atha explained what happened to Ara, and he was filled with an anger that he couldn't begin to understand the depths of. Instead of do something rash, he left without a word.

He spent time meditating in the stillness of the mountains, foraging and hunting, trying to come to terms with what happened. He returned a month later. He sat down with Atha and had a discussion about her actually trying to do better. She agreed that she messed up and she has been working very hard to do better. They eventually heal. During this, Ara gives his DRK stone to Monx and trains her on the way of being a DRK.

Shadowbringers
They stay together and go on occasional adventures. Aragibal buys a home in the Mist because he knows that Athala likes it and they vacation there. During this time as well a teenage moonkeeper named Siobahn finds Aragibal and asks him to train her in the ways of the monk. He takes on the apprentice and trains her, in exchange she helps manage the kids and teaches them about the ways of the moonkeepers and their traditions.

Ara and Atha receive message that the WOL are able to return to the Source, but the Scions are unable to, and a few of the WOL must stay on the Source for a bit to recover from the events of the First. Aragibal and Athala have been asked to head to the First in order to aid the people there with whatever needs done, and to help the Scions. They have everything packed and ready to go, arrangements made for the kits to be watched, and were doing final checks before leaving.

(CRAU) background: na

abilities:
He has access to all of the tanks and melee classes in FFXIV up to SB. The classes he doesn't have weapons for he can't use. He keeps all his stones on him. I will not have him pursue obtaining the weapons for any other classes.

Classes he has access to right now
Dark Knight (DRK) - does not need stone, this weapon available
Monk (MNK) - does not need stone, this weapon available

Classes he knows but doesn't have weapons for
Paladin (PLD)
Warrior (WAR)
Dragoon (DRG)
Ninja (NIN)
Samurai (SAM)

Note: He tends to hybridize classes that don't require a job stone pretty heavily, so this will manifest in his reflexes are very high and he is surprisingly nimble even in his DRK armor, his movement is faster than one might expect, etc. The reverse of this is he will have access to some cooldowns like darkest night or dark mind while MNK (read: tankier than usual monk).

I'd say the only thing that might need nerfing is living dead, but I don't really see him going into battle too much and, if he does, if he uses it and isn't healed very heavily pretty quickly, he dies outright, so I feel that's somewhat balanced on its own? That's up to you. The lore behind living dead is your get slain, but your body is animated with the darkness within to keep going and fighting on. You can be brought back from the brink with healing.

Misc
Excellent chef
Pretty solid fisher
An alright botanist
A man filled with DETERMINATION and an INDOMITABLE SPIRIT
He's good at tending plants! He really likes growing hard to grow plants!
He's great with kids tbh

He's a pretty good hunter, but young auri men are tasked with hunting basically cougars with their bare hands so it's more hunting like that and less stalking deer through the woods

Personality:
Aragibal is a man of great achievements, both large and small. He is known as the God of War because of his fighting ability, the Myth Breaker because he helped destroy the reign of Thordan and his knights, the Stalwart Sword because of his tanking ability. The rumor is that he has never once lost a fight. All of his accolades and and achievements are reasons to be proud but he tries not to brag too much and he attempts to keep things humble. With enough coaxing and complimenting, though, you can pull out a less humble Aragibal to be proud of and flaunt his successes. He secretly loves the attention and loves to bask in the admiration of others, and this is pride he's trying to remove, but isn't all the way gone. A level of kissing ass will get you further with him if you can get him into this state.

Aragibal is chatty. He loves to talk, and he loves the sound of his own voice. While he's gotten a bit better at listening, he still loves to talk. He can strike up a conversation with just about anyone and will do his best to keep the conversation going. This is coupled with his overall love for people and the fact that he believes people are fundamentally good. He loves to meet people and make new friends with all kinds of people from all walks of life. He's a very sociable man who will do his best to make everyone feel that they are included, that they are welcome, and that they belong. He has trust for people from the start, and he is willing to overlook and forgive trespasses made against him: he has good faith that it was a mistake and a misunderstanding in expectations. If someone were to use him and he gets to a place where he can no longer reconcile their behavior they will find he will turn their back to him and it is a very slow journey to gain the thought of a second chance. He does try to be communicative about his relationships and he personally keeps no secrets and wishes others felt the same. He also does not tend to be subtle: if he has an issue, he will do his best to bring it up.

He is a kind man who believes that spreading kindness will cultivate it, and he believes that kindness can soften even the hardest of hearts. He will often do his best to create nice gestures, he will freely give out compliments, and often will give gifts to those he considers friends. He is very generous in the way of money and will give coin to those who need it, or will open his door to someone if needed. With his kindness and general trust for people, his forgiveness is quite wide reaching. His forgiveness likely will get him into trouble someday, but it has not yet.

The last major thing about Aragibal is that he is incredibly patient. He will allow people to walk on him, to use or mistreat him quite a bit before he loses faith in them or grows angry. He is very good with kids because of this. He is slow to anger, but he has the kind of anger that burns very hot and very deep. When he is angry it has a tendency to linger for a while. He has a quiet anger that mostly manifests by falling into an unusual silence, and a way about him that feels very dangerous, although he would not take it out on someone because he is quite aware of his own strength and power.

Many of his great qualities are his weaknesses: he tends to overestimate the goodness in people, place trust in people he doesn't know very well, assume people will do the right thing, go out of his way to be kind, and forgive things that probably shouldn't be forgiven. He isn't an idiot, but he just believes in people because he knows the world sure as hell won't believe in them, so he hopes that him believing in them somehow helps them.

Inventory:
This suit of armor and sword, sans the helmet
This outfit (the gloves are technically the weapon - SqEx hates monk)
PLD, WAR, DRG, SAM job stones
A wallet picture of his family - Xahqoh, Ahweh'a, and Athala
A linkpearl (looks like an earring hanging from his horns)
Allagan Tomestones of Allegory (234)
Allagan Tomestones of Phantasmagoria (2,000)
Allagan Tomestones of Poetics (2,000)
Approx 400,000 gil
A simple band made of a silver-looking material, worn on his right ring finger.
A length of fabric/rope/cord/whatever to tie his hair back.
An ornate horn (akin to a hunting horn), to summon Sleipnir from the aether
When Sleipnir is summoned he comes with all appropriate tack, if you allow him to be summoned

Which of the following would they most like to have in abundance: limitless good luck, the freedom to act without restraint, the ability to teach and to learn, or for everyone to just relax? Everyone just relax!
